BFX stem (Biomet Fracture Stem)
.jpg)
The BFX Stem is indicated for the treatment of displaced basicervical and intracapsular femoral fracture. The BFX is and uncemented solution for ambulatory, self-carrying patients, with a low risk of co-morbidity and suitable life expectancy.
The BFX has the same stem geometry as the fully proven primary Bi-Metric® Stem
- The 3-degree bi-planar tapered stem promotes proximal stress offloading and reduces distal stress shielding. Therefore, the risk of thigh pain is minimised.
- The forged titanium (Ti6Al4V) alloys for strength, bio-compatibility and better match to the modulus of elasticity of bone than CoCr or Stainless Steel.
- The BFX stem has a fully HA (Hydroxyapatite) coated interlock finish. The roughness of the finish and HA ease the rapid bony on-growth, enhancing the stem stability in the femoral canal.
- The cementless stem fixation avoids risks and costs associated with cementing techniques* clinical paper.
- The collar eases the stress offloading in the proximal region of the femur and reduces the risk of subsidence.
- The Biomet fracture stem is versatile: Its type one taper (4-degree taper) can accommodate any Biomet type one taper unipolar or bi-polar head. If necessary, the stem can ultimately be converted to a total hip replacement.
- The Fracture Stem has a 140degree neck/ shaft angle, with an horizontal offset from 39mm, to 42mm.
- The Fracture stem instrumentation is the same as the Bi-Metric® instrumentation, reduced and straightforward.
